Kutubminar one of the 3 monuments of world heritage sites in delhi including Humayun's toomb and Red fort, is tilting towards southwest as reported by ASI personnel to media.
It has been reported in earlier report of ASI to unesco that it has a tilt of 25 inches since 1950's and is now increasing due to seepage of rain water into its foundation.Foundation of this monument is 10 ft deep and is weak as is surrounded by soft soil.
ASI has worked out in the matter and cemented this monument's base so that furtner seepage of water can be stopped and damage to the monument can be avoided.Official said that tilt is till within safe limits. There are cracks over the monuments due to water seepage into the walls of monuments by capillary action and we are to repair them said the official.
